Top of the pops

Top of the pops:

Magazine analysis…

Front cover

The front cover it is quite crowded with many things all over the place.

The bright colours may suggest it is targeted at a younger generation where it will easily catch their attention. There is a wide use of yellow and pink as they are very vibrant colours.

Multiple stars are placed on the front cover to draw people’s attention and interest them.

The main stars are placed at a mid-shot on the right side of the cover.

The bar code/issue number are placed at the bottom of the page as that is generally where they are put.

The puff is at the bottom right and shows many stars and makes the audience want to turn the page as it says “full of fit fancies including…”

The masthead is positioned at the top left, this is so when it is put out in shops and magazines overlap the logo will not get covered.

The skyline is a snippet of what is held inside the magazine.

The language on the front cover shows a lot of puns which may be to entertain the targeted audience.

It is a very informal magazine with its main purpose being to entertain and amuse readers.

Contents Page

Carries the same colour scheme as the front cover which shows it is consistent and fluent

There isn’t much information or any ordered page numbers, however there are pictures of certain pages inside with the page number stated with it. There is also a picture of the front cover with arrows pointing to different celebs and topics –this is a clear indication of what pages to go to.

There is an editor’s blog which tells you a little more about the magazine.

There are pictures placed to give you an insight of what else there is, they have captions with them telling us what they are about.

On the side of the page there are credits for what is placed on the front cover.
